Athlete Spotlight - Reggie Golla

I signed up for a trial membership at Team Crossfit (now LYFE) in 2014 and was hesitant to show up to the first class. But, I showed up and was put at ease when I was instructed byCoaches, Ernie and Rachel, to take it easy for the 1 st couple of weeks. They provided modified workouts for the beginners. Following the coaching instructions, I began to enjoy various workouts, diversity of routines (e.g. work out of the day or WOD), and the community at LYFE.After the 3 month trial membership, I added more workouts at my own pace in order to improve my techniques.

My friends say I don’t look like a “crossfitter”, but my goal was not to lose 50lbs and be ripped. My goal was to be healthier. Through this fitness journey I kept notes on my performance and have been amazed by my advancement. More inspiring to me though, is seeing other people’s accomplishments and be humbled by the effort that it took to reach those goals. I continually learn from others, so I can sample new things, widening my own lens of healthy habits.

Since starting this fitness journey at Team Crossfit, I have visited other “boxes” in Seattle, Lompoc, and Las Vegas. All the boxes I have visited have their unique expertise, but LYFE is one of the few places that offer so much diversity (e.g. Takano, Krav Maga, Speed Rx).

Ultimately, the positive community at LYFE and the great coaches are what differentiates itself from other boxes in the area. LYFE is the best place for me to set my fitness goals. I really appreciate the recognition as member of the month, but I am more thankful that there are places like LYFE that can support my fitness goals and others with similar ambitions.

Athlete Spotlight - Erica Sturges

From the top... my nickname as a very little one "gordita" which translates to "chubby", my nickname as a young child "flaca" which translates to "skinny"... and so begins the cycle of weight gain and weight loss that most women experience deep into their adult lives.

Instead of dwelling on body image and all the issues that come along with that (confidence,self-respect, feeling sexy) I thought the more important part of my fitness journey to share would be the role of community in the "fit" lifestyle. Plainly stated, community is why I joined Team Crossfit/Lyfe Fitness and why I aim to spend as much of my time as possible there. It's why I dragged Jeff into it, it's why we signed Sofie up for the kids classes.

We are so blessed to belong to such a welcoming, supportive and genuinely loving community. I'll never forget the warm welcome I received on Christmas eve of 2014 when I wrote to James and asked if I could drop-in. In my 40 years on this planet I've learned that you must enjoy every life experience, good and bad. I wake up everyday thinking about when I will be able to move my body. Sometimes it's in the gym, other times it's in a family dance party in the living room, and sometimes it's at my desk when that beat drops!

I have nothing but love for everyone at TCF/LYFE, the coaches, staff and members, I truly love you all and what we stand for as a community. I often wonder what kind of problems we could solve given our collective consciousness, various roles in the community and areas of expertise. We'd be a pretty awesome company that I know for sure!

Please love yourself and love each other! That's all there is to it!
